The Rest You Think You Don’t Deserve

I’ve been telling everyone I’m resting this week, but to be honest, rest is a skill I’m still trying to master. My brain loves to convince me that if I’m not being productive every second of every day, I’m being complacent and wasting time.

But, also, my year in review: Back to back exams. Studying for months. Working. Parenting. Building a multifaceted business. Trying to hold everything together at once.

And somewhere in the midst of all that, I forgot what it actually feels like to just ..be.

So this week, I’m choosing rest on purpose. Not the kind where you’re lying down but mentally running laps. Actual rest. Quiet. Breathing room. Letting my shoulders drop.

And it’s been a challenge. I’m constantly finding myself thinking about the next big business move, my monthly personal rebrand, trips to take, moves to make. But my goodness, I’ve also felt lighter and free.

And here’s what I want to share, in case you need to hear it too.

You don’t have to earn rest. You don’t have to justify it. And you don’t have to hit a milestone before you’re allowed to breathe.

Sometimes stepping back is the most productive thing you can do.

Sometimes rest is the reset you need.

If you’ve been carrying a lot lately, emotionally, financially, mentally, physically, I hope you give yourself at least one moment this week where you stop, sit down, and let the world move without you.

It will all be there when you get back.

But you? You deserve a second. Rest.
