My Stationary: A Love Letter
I knew I was deep into this CPA journey when I realized my favorite highlighters were dying. Like, actually drying out. And then I checked my pen cup and realized I have gone through every single one of my favorite pens except one (stay strong, girl, I’m counting on you).
Do you know how many pages you have to highlight, annotate, cross reference, and color code to take out a whole squad of stationery? Because I do. And I mean if you’d like to know too I can absolutely do the math on the 9.5 notebooks I’ve gone through so far. Just say the word.
But listen, these weren’t just pens and highlighters. They were literally with me through every meltdown, every comeback, every 4 a.m. study block and every late night study session. They were there for the “I got this” moments and the “why am I doing this to myself” spirals.
And now, they’re drying out right as I’m closing this chapter. It’s quite poetic when you really think about it.
So yes, this is my dramatic ode to my highlighters and pens. They’ve walked this whole road with me. The least I can do is give them a proper send off full of love and appreciation.
And to be honest, watching them fade at the same time I’m rising into the woman I’ve been building… feels symbolic. Even my stationery knows it’s almost over.
Two weeks to go.
A stack of flashcards, a few dying highlighters, one pen left, and the strongest version of me I’ve ever met.
Becoming a CPA, one dried out pastel highlighter at a time.
